Just like the Selena Quintanilla's collection, AALIYAH for MACwas collection created due to public demand. Fans coming together from all over the world to let their wish be known. Consequently, Mac Cosmetics had no choice but to hear us! This collection is a family effort. Quite literally.
Aaliyah's family, friends and former makeup artists finally came together to make sure each item honored baby girl and her minimalist, sleek effortless style. AALIYAH for MACis a lip heavy collection. For a makeup nut like myself it is heaven! All the lip colors are inspired by looks Liyah wore on the red carpet and some of them are inspired by her music videos. My favorite of the collection is LiLi's motor cityis the perfect everyday color. I'll be posting swatches and looks very soon.

This was my first Mac lipstick, and i thought it was sold out so for some reason i bought it here instead of their website. It was more expensive on amazon but its such a great lipstick that i dont even care. Like all mac lip products it goes on easily and lasts long. By far my favorite shade! So, this collection is based on Liyah's videos & her own makeup bag that her mother kept in storage. Therefore this collection is random. As a fan looking at it, I don't think it was meant to 'cater' to us anyways. With things we need or what we like. It's literary a little piece of her world. What she wore everyday, what she liked. Stuff she picked herself, this one detail alone makes this collection even more personal.
Again, because the colors were based on the colors she had on her makeup bag right before she left us, that's what makes this collection unique and special. I'm so grateful for it, but if you are not an obsessed fan some items will go right over your head (Bronzing Powder anyone?). I got the Vault and every item separately so I can wear it in special occasions!!

Even though a 11 year old shouldn't be enjoying 'Rock the Boat'so much. Dude. That's was (and still) my jam! 'Try Again'is my ultimate ‘pick me up' song.

Selena for MAC is really happening, and the beauty brand also just announced a groundbreaking partnership with Caitlyn Jenner. So, isn't it about time that we made the same thing happen for Aaliyah?
Since her untimely death in 2001, Aaliyah has maintained a strong fan base through her timeless records, ushering in a new generation of followers who admire her stunning beauty. In addition to her angelic vocals, the late songstress has a ton of makeup looks that are nothing short of iconic.
An Aaliyah for MAC collaboration only seems right. A petition for the line has been started by Aaliyah fan Jennifer Risinger.
'Me and a couple of friends tweeted [Aaliyah's] brother, Rashad Haughton, and asked if he would be interested in a MAC collection honoring Aaliyah,' Jennifer explained to Global Grind. 'To our surprise, since the family's so private, he responded that she loved MAC cosmetics and that he approved and that he would have his licensing team look into it. From then on, we put a petition together and set up social media accounts.'
The petition has since received nearly 12,000 signatures. Even Missy Elliott has gotten involved with the social media campaign. Although we can all agree that Aaliyah for MAC would be dope, what would the collection look like?
'I would want them to bring back a couple of her favorite colors that she mentioned in some articles- Chelsea lipstick, I believe that's a discontinued shade. She wore Cherish lipstick, so that could be a re-promote in the collection, as well as Chestnut lip liner,' said Jennifer.

Still, despite the social media enthusiasm, MAC has yet to offer an official yes or no, according to Jennifer:
'I've gotten some tweets from MAC saying they would send it to their people and thank you for the idea, really general responses. Rashad has reached out to MAC and as far as he told me, all they can do is wait for MAC to call them.'
If you want to see Aaliyah x MAC become a reality, here's what you can do to help:
'People can help the movement by posting on their social media using #AaliyahforMAC and adding @MACcosmetics, encouraging people to sign the petition, tell MAC you want the collection and tell them to call Rashad and make a deal.'
